Notes and Quotes

"Through travel I first became aware of the outside world;
it was through travel that I found my own introspective way
into becoming a part of it."
Eudora Welty

Travel somewhere alone.

It's good to travel with family or friends. But it's easier to spot ideas when traveling alone.

That's because solo travel allows total focus on the experience, argues travel writer Lea Lane.

"When you're with other people, the possibility of diluting the experience is very high," she says. "I've been at the rim of the Grand Canyon with people discussing their stock portfolios rather than experiencing its beauty."

"The person who goes alone can start today,
but the one who travels with another
must wait until that other is ready."
Henry David Thoreau
